Architecture Design Process
Our goal is to unite the site with the architecture in a way that is elegant, innovative and beautiful.
Phase 1
Site Discovery & Planning
Every project begins with a thorough understanding of the property itself. We start by visiting the site to study topography, views, natural light, access, and the surrounding landscape. These early observations help guide the overall direction of the home and establish a strong connection between the architecture and its environment.
From there, we develop preliminary site plans and begin organizing how the residence will sit on the land—carefully considering orientation, privacy, outdoor living, and the experience of arriving at and moving through the property. This phase creates the foundation for the entire design process and ensures the home responds naturally to its setting.
Phase 2
Programming & Concept Development
With a clear understanding of the site, we begin translating the client’s goals and lifestyle into the framework of the home. This phase focuses on programming, spatial relationships, and early floor plan development—carefully organizing how the residence will function, flow, and feel on a day-to-day basis.
Through sketches, diagrams, and conceptual plans, we explore room layouts, circulation, natural light, and the connection between interior and exterior spaces. As the design evolves, we begin shaping the overall architectural character of the home, establishing the foundation for both the floor plans and exterior form moving forward.
Phase 3
Architectural Design & Visualization
As the design direction becomes more defined, we begin developing the architectural character of the home through elevations, material studies, and three-dimensional modeling. This phase focuses on refining proportion, form, natural light, and the relationship between interior and exterior spaces while establishing a cohesive architectural language throughout the project.
Using detailed 3D models, photoreal renderings, and video fly-throughs, clients are able to fully experience the design before construction begins. These tools help communicate scale, materials, lighting, and spatial atmosphere while allowing the design to be refined with clarity and precision prior to documentation.
Phase 4
Consultant Coordination & Technical Development
As the architectural design becomes finalized, we begin coordinating closely with the broader project team to fully integrate the technical components of the residence. This phase includes collaboration with structural engineers, mechanical and electrical consultants, interior designers, cabinet designers, lighting specialists, and other key disciplines required to bring the project together cohesively.
Through ongoing coordination and refinement, we ensure that structural systems, mechanical requirements, interior detailing, and architectural intent are thoughtfully aligned before construction documentation begins. This collaborative process helps create a more resolved, efficient, and highly integrated final design.
Phase 5
Construction
Documentation
Following coordination and final design refinement, the project moves into construction documentation. During this phase, we produce a comprehensive set of architectural drawings detailing the information required for permitting, pricing, and construction. These documents communicate the design intent with clarity while providing the technical framework necessary for the home to be accurately built.
The construction set includes detailed plans, elevations, sections, material specifications, and architectural detailing coordinated alongside consultant drawings. Careful attention is given to constructability, material transitions, proportions, and overall project cohesion to ensure the design is carried through from concept to construction with precision and consistency.
PHASE 6
Construction
Coordination
During construction, we remain actively involved to support the execution of the design and ensure it is carried out as intended. This phase includes site visits, communication with the builder and consultants, and ongoing review of submittals, RFIs, and construction progress.
Our role is to help resolve design questions in real time, maintain alignment with the construction documents, and provide clarification where needed. This ongoing coordination helps protect the integrity of the design while supporting a smoother building process from groundbreaking through completion.
